Let’s sit down and talk things through

Is there really a difference between me and you?

Or is everything we know pretty much the same

Just defined by a different name?

 

They say love your neighbor

They say love your wife

They say love your family

They say love your own life

 

They say don’t take away another’s

They say don’t lie and always be true

They say don’t judge a book by its cover

They say don’t place someone else below you

 

They say violence is not the answer

They say that honesty is a virtue too

They say to be tolerant of one another

They say find peace in all you do

 

They say you’ll go to heaven

They say you’ll find nirvana

They say you’ll find reincarnation

And meet God, Jesus, or Buda

 

But most importantly they say to be good

To find reason and meaning in life

To help out others if you could

And not hold onto hatred nor strife

 

Let’s sit down and talk things out

Instead of pointing blame with conducing shouts

And realize that what we want is really the same

Love, peace, and happiness as a universal name
