Before You Go

Before You Go

A Poem by br.reed
"

Day 6 of 90 Days of Poetry

"

Just a moment before you go

There’s something I’d like to say

About how you've faced life toe to toe

And grown into the woman you are today.

You've survived the trails of our family

With all its crazy ups and downs

Graduated from college without due ceremony

Your deserved day of cap and gown

You've faced off against athletes

Some more than twice your size

Yet always kept that will to compete

An underdog story on the rise

You've tackled piano and rodeo

Starred in Drama, Speech and Debate

Put with the annoyances of your bro

Overcame devastating heart break

And now a new journey awaits

As Chicago opens up its door

I know you’ll have what it takes

To conquer all that life has in store

If everything else is left unsaid

One thing I hope you know stays true

And you keep this notion in heart and head

That I am (and always will be) proud of you.

Ever since I was little, I've created elaborate stories about space, superheros, and monsters. Now that I'm 25... nothing much has changed. I have finished a few short stories and have worked as an on.. more..
