winter ------

winter ------

A Poem by Amy Craig Beasley
"

Today is winter solstice! I am inspired ---I write - but I am also waiting for more entries to the contest I created - ---- Write about winter and submit to WINTER ----

"

The trees are now adjourning

And I will wait for their returning

But now that branches have no hair

I hear whispered in the air

Of the coming of a Queen

wrapped all in white

Her dress is long and flowing

In her touch a cold bestowing

But in the icy smile she shares

through the silver sheen I stare

At the beauty of the unseen

in this

translucent night

Where

the oaken ones are all asleeping

But the pines are still a keeping

watch

with their long green needles

and there slender seeds

encased in a Wōden Chrysalis

They watch with me

Her approach

The white witch

of winter

Has bewitched me this December

and only

a golden ember

will renew me

transfixed

as I am

tonight.
