man made

man made

A Poem by Amy Craig Beasley

electrifying

you " so like Prometheus

channeled

the force

of fire

into my

icy

limbs

and shocked

 me

into

existence

and left me

you

did not

even

teach

me

how to speak

what to eat

spoke of how

you

loathed

me

and then

you abandoned me

to the extremities

where I

discovered for myself

what fire was

and how to eat

and how to love

and to need

another

so that

I could be loved

and I

only ask

that you will

create

another

so that

I

will not be

so all alone

what I do desire

is that you take

that fire

and

bring

another life

into

this life

but

you

won't

and

so

I take

my revenge

to have you

suffer

to watch

why should I be otherwise

when the

whole world

sees

only

with

eyes

and no heart
