signs of a kingdom

signs of a kingdom

A Poem by Amy Craig Beasley
"

Written after reading Macbeth again after so many years --- AND - don't foret to submit to my contest that will continue through Jan. 2 - MUCH ADO ABOUT THE BARD

"

the whispers

in the night  of a king to be

and his wife

and

the knell

 oh that bell

how it mournfully weeps

for what is in the heart of man

bubbling brooding

toiling over the waters

troubling the quiet sleep of the innocent

three sisters

Laughter gurgles down

 their adamantine throats

and clings to those

 rugged cliffs

like fog

words words words

work into the skin

and

rip the man

untimly from his-story

a fathered child who is fatherless

a sudden wood  in the plain

a man not born of a woman

all for nothing

signifying everything

Great stuff! I like these lines best:

and
rip the man
untimly from his-story

Have just been reading AS YOU LIKE IT with a son for one of his exams. All done now! Rosalind, o Rosalind! the minx!

Absolutely stunning use of rhythm, the words alone are musical, the imagery vivid. You make Macbeth more compelling than Shakespeare did, I think.

Now I need to go re-read it. Wonderful, wonderful write!
