A Poem by Amy Craig Beasley

silence

and I wait

where I last heard you playing

on the wires

that lead to my

brain

just the other day

you were

preparing the

table

and

we were

so beautiful together

you and I

highlighted

by that red sky

and the cry

of  those

egrets

so

wild

so wild

so wild we were

and

then

like the red sun

setting

...a forgetting ...

and a new step

 to take

a blue step step ste p

and

a new me

The egrets evoke a strong image. But the main feeling I have about this one is of how transitory THOSE moments are. We have to cherish them. Oddly, and I have no idea why, I thought that this sounded like it cld be a Russian poem. It cld be I am confusing egrets with storks! The fractured ste p at the end suggests an emotional hiatus.
