something new

something new

A Poem by Amy Craig Beasley

There is an addiction

to newness

To the sudden pow

And the instant wow

That keeps people

Carrying out the trash

And pulling out the card

And With

Buying power

Demanding nothing that will

Last

A throw-away society

Transient

Torn and radically removed

From the patch

And the stitch

That could hold what

 remains

Together

Our mind set

moved

And In our keep

There will be nothing

Old   or  borrowed

The dependable

Replaced

By expendable

If ever  we can feel

Something

Weighing heavy

         in our pocket s

And in our hearts

We will quickly turn it in

for something new

And

As deep as air

We will float

Through time
