Earnin' Black Coffee And Dawn's Sun

Earnin' Black Coffee And Dawn's Sun

A Poem by Chad Wesley Allbrett
"

This is about a job I had in Cody Wyoming, wrangleing horses, you went to go get them at 400AM.

"

The night stars cold set to my morning,

this steam breath morning for breakfast.

My wool socks are three to each foot

and fill my cowboy boots allmost by themselves.

Of stove paradise and of cold morning hell.

They say the night is coldest before dawn.

but I wool bundled move stiffly

I have horses to find and to cach.

My halter knots- tied to know horses.

Bay gilding knows I'm triyin' to cach him

and he moves swift hoofs beats away.

In the big frost stony pasture

I'm carryin a saddle to get over,

a bay horse name of "Oscer"

I point and he gives me

a nicker.

He lets me cach him for choosing.

Stars shiver cold in the sky.

Thank God for wool on this morning when animals move only for a reason.

My reason is my saddle horse,

seventy five more on that mountain, but first thing, I gota get on him,

to earn black coffie and dawn's Sun.

'to earn black coffie and dawn's Sun.' Now those words could become the title of your book when you write it. I liked the determination to overcome against nature and beast.
