Horse's, Prayin'
A Poem by Chad Wesley Allbrett
Kind of a Cheyenne rap thing.
Dull Knife was a cheif of the Northern Cheyenne, and the Ghost Dance was this thing where the Indians used to dance and pray that the whole earth would roll up and take away the White Man and every thing that they had broug

In the Powder River valley, I'm horse standin.'
The Thunder Basin daylight landing'.
Dull Knife is on my right hand
East Wyoming Cheyenne land.
The cattle clear from my sight
Buffalo grow from sunflowers grass sturip high
Dull Knife's black hair blows,
The direction westward to the Bighorn snows.
If an eagle could be more free,
He could fly and scream it to me.
The roads roll up-ghost dance stile
Antelope make tracks only for a small while.
My saddle changes, to a robe
Water creatures stir in the grass below
The coal in this country- their bones
Life and legends takein' out loans
Time is water sweatin' out cottonwood tones
Put your ear to the earth and hear sprits moan
Windy fringe is blowing
Off rifle scabbards twirling feathers horse maines knowing
I dream of a far away butte and riding makes it true
How can we understand a sky so blue?
Crazy Horse would have known it was true.
I look to a fence and it turns to rawhide
Digging oil where the dirt cried.
Derricks turned to horses and pranced bucked and shied.
And they ran to a ridge where in a pine tree song,
They told of their lore, and prayed for men's wrongs.

This is a beautiful piece. Your imagery is stunning and I love the feel of it. It made me feel like I was standing there in the wide open outdoors breathing in the fresh air. I love pieces that carry me away, and this one sure did!
