Rainbows in the DarknessA Poem by Bearjust what I "discovered" late on night standing on the patio during a steady rain
Standing on the patio, catching a breath of fresh air. I'm looking up at the dark night sky, while listening to the lightly falling rain. I catch flickers of light in my vision thinking it may be a plane way above me. I think "what a crummy night to fly, go home you fool to a warm and gentle place." I keep looking up, grateful that it's a warm evening and then again, the rainbow patterned light flickers within my eyes. The gutter above me is leaking, as it always does, giving me no break. The drops continue to fall in front of me, guess it's just their way of saying unto me, "Go inside you fool to where it is warm for, it is a gentle place." I'm not ready yet, and grateful I wasn't for I discovered by staying put that rainbows are created even on the darkest of rainy nights for as the water droplets descended from above, the porch light was reflecting within them, allowing me to see that rainbows can occur even on a dark and rainy night, in a tiny water droplet.
