Liberation

Illuminating the recesses of my heart

A flame invades quiet nothingness.

So does love bring forth stoic passion

As Lazarus was Raised out of captivity.

Though it flickers and fades as it

Battles the chill and blackness,

The flame endures, is fueled by the

The attraction, the mystery of the void.

Without love there is no depth, no colour

No warmth.  The flame must survive and thrive;

It must burst, combust into a raging fire

To destroy the darkness and quicken my heart alive.

this is lovely... it reminds of a line from an old roseanne cash song (written by her then hubby rodney crowell)

"love, like a candle, can't take me through a storm
it's bright enough to burn me,
but too weak to keep me warm"

the imagery is beautiful in your poem like this.... it's beautiful in a quiet, strong way.. really well done sweet man

Love is like a flame, it grows strong, then it may weaken, but the flame is there as long as love resides in your heart.

What we as humans strive to do, is to keep the flame alive.

When the flame burns brightest, we love the strongest :)
