The ReturnA Poem by beancountersarThis is a poem about a woman who touched me very deeply.....The Return The seas I sailed in perilous haste, And searched the world to and fro To find that which I sought so dear To satisfy that which I did not know. Like Neil Young’s miner in the depths And the Greeks in darkened sky My quest went on in quiet desperation, Seeking what I did not know; nor why. But fortune smiled bright on me; A wise woman did I meet. Who, with my spirit, reminded me That fools gold my soul would cheat. She spoke of truth and wisdom; To look beyond the shell. For this world, one of deceitful lies Would send one to the gates of Hell. Though known before from time to time I had not seen her yet. But, she let me to see her heart at once And that glimpse I shall ne’er forget. Love is secret, love is spirit; That I’ve always known. It’s not in anything we can see That love is truly shown.
