Grown up

Grown up

A Story by Ash
"

Childhood turns her heel and walks away...

"
Sadness pumps through the veins, entering the bloodstream in dull realization. Tears of stress travel on various routes down the ruddy face of the perfectionist. Oh why, why, why? Work, work, work. Oh yes, they have done this to themselves, oh yes. Regret nothing. What was theirs, now only a shadow remains. A misshapen shadow that grows fainter with each passing day. It's fading, fading, fading...Hold on to it! Yes hold on to it...it's coming. Come back, I say! Come back, I say! For where have you been? For what have you done? Stay, I say! Stay, I say! Remember the years of play? The little shadow girl stares on. Eyes of innocence, heart of love. The look of wonder, not yet forgotten. As her heels turn towards another day, I watch in acceptance as she runs away...
