When People Vanish

When People Vanish

A Poem by Danny Rae
"

If you like to read, this one is like a short story poem. Enjoy.

"

What if people vanished,

Like in a plague.

How'd they manage?

It would be a drag.

How would you react?

What would you do?

What's you're tactic?

Because I've got no clue.

Would you go insane?

Or where you already?

Tell me your name,

Keep your hands steady.

My heart beat fading,

My skin growing pale.

A physical embrace I'm craving,

Drinking water thats gone stale.

My stomach churning,

Coughing up blood.

What's keeping me from turning?

My face covered in mud.

This is not luck,

This is just fate.

Well what the f**k,

Is it the same in your state?

Keep me updated,

Give me your intel.

I've stood here and waited,

I've noticed I'm in hell.

Until I see another human,

Going through what I am.

I've got to zoom in,

Well goddamn.

"Are you ok?"
"Are you real?"

"The sky is so grey..."

"I know how you feel..."

Rips in our shirts,

And our leggings.

More growth spurts,

I'm left begging.

She's shy,

She's covering her face.

And yes I'm a guy,

I'll give her my embrace.

Run to a building,

Break in.

Wheres the killing?

She's got me pinned.

Not very shy anymore,

Our privacy counts.

"I want you to make me sore..."

She then mounts.

Is this getting to her head?

Making her craze.

She takes me to a bed,

Or what does she crave?

I swear though,

It wasn't just sex.

"Woah..."

We cuddled next.

It was passionate,

It was sweet.

She bounced on it,

And repeat.

I know we're strangers,

But I swear...

I got rid of her dangers.

It wasn't like a dare.

But she's a married woman,

Cannot find her husband.

I'm a suduced man,

Suddenly angry, I ran.

She just missed the pleasure,

She liked the thought of not being alone.

Well she took a drastic measure,

I'm anger prone.

She doesn't deserve her man,

She cheated probably more than once.

What exactly was her plan,

Finds her prey then pounce.

Run,

Run away far away.

What have you done?

What can I say...

Nothing is here now,

I bet others have prayed.

Even though some how,

I lost hope and my souls frayed.

Beak into a tall building,

Get to the top.

What is this feeling.

I must not stop.

Keep going,

Must keep going up.

My legs are sore and I'm slowing.

But I will not give up.

On the roof,

I stand to the edge.

I'd give you proof

but I'm leaping from this ledge

Free falling down

Eyes closed.

No worries or frown

This is what I purpose.

Open them up and look at the pavement,

Is this a f*****g illusion

I wonder where they went...

I've got no conclusion.

Humanity is back,

But I'm landing...

My head bleeding from a crack,

I could've been here standing.

Now the blood empties,

My body so pale and cold.

Blunt force trauma kills me,

My spine broken my body folds.

That's it,

That's all.

I'm well lit,

I stood tall.
