Flutter

Flutter

A Poem by BLBrown

driving home from work

               exhausted

perpetually red stoplight

               exhausted

lionel ritchie on the radio

               exhausted

heavy tree-lined street

               exhausted

traffic and resounding horns

               exhausted

first baby flutter in my belly

exhilarated!

Love the twist!
It is so true isn't it? God's way of helping us through the constant tired feeling, the hints of joy offered on what is to come. I still remember the first time I felt both of my babies move in my belly. And later as they grew I loved the feeling of my kids kicking and moving about. Well, except SJ when he was bigger... he decided to plant his foot (or feet) under my rib cage and kick like crazy!

Yes - I always knew she was doing okay if she was kicking. I would balance an empty plastic coffee cup on my stomach and it would topple one way, then the other, and on a few occasions fly across the room as if she were scoring a goal!
