the end of we

the end of we

A Poem by bboooyd

A firmness absent in recent encounters
provides bright heat contrary to the cold tears.
Your lips seek refuge on mine.

I can feel you shudder;
A slick roll of agony through your bones.
I steady you
and space swallows us.

Our lips brush wet with emotion
and passion birthed from pain.
Hurt claws at life inside me;
Stifling my breath
and silencing my heart.

Not too weak to break away,
I finally do what needs to be done.
Immediate after our last kiss

I breathe,

This is what needs to be.
You won't thank me now,
but I know this is the end of we.
