Drop Let Go

Drop Let Go

A Poem by bboooyd

Drops splash down and green the leaves.

Dead leaves sometimes sit on sidewalks holding these drops.

The clear liquid beads up inside them and settles solid.

A drop of water on a fallen leaf.

The drop could’ve landed anywhere.

(Earth swallows others happily with a thirsty mouth)

Instead there is its beauty,

Rolling motionless on a dying bed.

I imagine purity inside the drop.

I want to feel it.

It would sting my hand with its cleanliness and earth.

A sting that separates being and was.

A sharp stab of past and present and future.

It’s been everywhere and through everything.

A constant to the world.

still it stopped to console a friend

until both

the leaf and the drop let go.

What a lovely poem of nature. I enjoyed following that drop throughout the poem. Nicely personified- to comfort a friend.

What an endearing journey you have written...in just a drop...to spill forth comfort...

"It’s been everywhere and through everything.

A constant to the world.

still it stopped to console a friend

until both

the leaf and the drop let go."~lovely write!
