Lilac Scars

Lilac Scars

A Poem by Helen Rupp
"

When did night become a nightmare...

"
When did night become a nightmare,
And day become a dream,
Life dampening soul's flair,
Turning holy water to steam.
When did the world start turning,
Beyond God's control,
With the geniuses learning,
That darkness takes it's toll.

When did time break our hearts,
And melt down all hope,
The devil keeps spare parts,
For those who cannot cope.
When will the people care,
That all is not as seems,
With dark that of a nightmare,
And light the stuff of dreams.

Maybe there's a reason,
A lesson to be learnt,
Pass by Satan's treason,
And glory here is earned.
Maybe now 'ere ends this stint,
Secured our five stars,
But the past has lain a fingerprint,
Signing our sanity with lilac scars.

Maybe there's an answer,
Something we all do seek,
Beyond the planet's cancer,
Past the silver lining turned sleek.
Maybe we're not running,
Under the faded sun's gleam,
With nightmares slowly coming,
And yonder fading dreams.

When did night become a nightmare,
And day become a dream,
Look to hell and see your life there,
Sitting high as queen.
