you are made

you are made

A Poem by Michael Silvera

You are Made
by m.s.
For/about/in awe of J.B.

You are made from a wayward northern father and wasp tough mother
You are made of pride, selfless, pushed into this world, that does not share your strength
(your strength, with this heat and grace and beauty, but strength above all else)
You are made so soul naked, yourself to be accepted rejected adored
(beyond everything else adored)
fought over loved envied that this hot clay fire inside you burning , spreading into
independence into what you were are and will become
into womanhood so lovely

(I wonder how many men and women can see you beyond the skin they call yourself, if they could see into your fire lovely heart and see that the skin is nothing but a soft curtain that your true skin hides beneath in its' own precise butterfly fragile bullet strong beauty. How many have wanted to open the curtain blind never looking inside the castle that holds multitudes, because:
You are made of spirit child clown scholar wayward soul hitchhiker blood brother blood sister lover waterfall dancer daytripper best friend daughter going on into forever... )
You are made of lonely islands populated by you and you only
You are made of cut flowers pasted tattooed fantasy women Pink flowers astrology symbols that dance out windows as we drive
You are made of failing lighters, of a cigarette voice that sounds both old and new
peeing in bushes and getting stoned and hangovers and bad decisions and brilliant choices
