She walks right by you
Her beauty simple yet magnificent
You don't really know her personally
But you know her reputation
And it's almost flawless
But what you see
Isn't the true her
It's just her unfailing mask
That she wears all day long
Until she gets home and it's torn off
She gets compared to her sister
The brilliant college graduate
With a strong faith in God
She never got lower than a C
And she actually gets an "I love you"
Then her mom opens a can
At 8 o'clock sharp
The beer smell fills the room
That already is clouded
With the smell of second hand smoke
Her dad is alright
But he gets angry a lot
Even ignores big family problems
He yells and swears daily
Its a wonder that his heart persists
This girl is abused
But not in the way most assume
Physical abuse has happen only once
But emotional and verbal multiple
She is torn apart inside
But look at what she does daily
She loves on her friends
She works her butt off in class
Her skill amazes the teachers
And she still laughs a lot
Do you see now?
Even genuine people can be fake
But not in a negative way
Just because of their tortured soul
And their desire to be different
