In a World of Bad NewsA Poem by BayThis is an optimistic poem about the blessings found when one opens his eyes to them. It is a poem about nature as it relates to an optimistic attitude. In a World of Bad News
In a world of bad news, murders and deaths, You find it difficult to see what is left; The little blessings, often discreet, Rise up behind a dark sheet Of loneliness, sadness, and dispair As they meet you in a thankful prayer.
The sky turns blue instead of black, Your eyes are glowing, coming back; And look! Clouds are made of cotton, Bringing back memories so long forgotten - Thoughts of people, places, and friends That gave you rest when you were at your end.
And all at once, the flowers have faces; That smile and glow in joyful places. But Darkness, who cries in his corner, Is -oh- but the king of all the mourners! What debris must fill his heart and head That he encases all joy in ugly dread.
But- never more joy can be found in the world -It is the same, even, as the joys of old - Never more joy, -no- never more glee Than the laugh of a baby Or the play of a puppy.
