![]() Summer in AustraliaA Poem by B.J![]() Snake time![]() In the summer sun Among the reeds He hid waiting A mild we attuned snake Well mannered waiting for the door to open For safety sake he waited Curled up in the shade All shinny and black He needed to feel the cool The summer heat Hot and dry Summer in Australia Beware the snakes are about Silent and leathery The creeks are dry No water about As the peasant drew near Opening the door Quickly without notice Around the edge of the walls It slid, quietly and un-noticed Ah! a simple curl A quiet cupboard Sleep for a night Until the patter of dog feet Noses smelling something strange No more snake, it lost it's head Literally it did loose it's head The dogs are okay And so is the owner The moral Is don't leave your door open Summer in Australia Be careful don't approach a snake without protection in Australia Practice security close your doors immediately Even in the cool of night This is a true story it did happen last night
