A modern Aussie ChristmasA Poem by B.JThere is a place where gum trees line streets Gum trees from the bush The Jacaranda blooms in December Kookaburra's laugh night and day Parrots all the colours of the rainbow Koala's, Kangaroo's, Emu's and Crocodiles A land of traditions set out by England A land of Christmas traditions from England Centuries gone by, we've created our own Christmas under the gum trees, scented with eucalypt Lazing by the pool, lazing by the beach Prawns on the barbie, watermelon ice Down here Santa needs his speedo's Not the big red suit set out by tradition Down here Santa needs his sunscreen Forget the sleigh, forget the snow There is a place where the gum trees grow Santa needs a four wheel drive to get around the bush Where the gum trees grow and the Jacarandas bloom We pray there is no bush fires over Christmas The outback is often parched dry over Christmas There is a place where gum trees line streets Gum trees from the bush The Jacaranda blooms in December Kookaburra's laugh night and day Parrots all the colours of the rainbow Koala's, Kangaroo's, Emu's and Crocodiles A land of traditions set out by England Now we have our own Sunscreen, speedo's Long lunches, beaches Ice cold drinks as long as you want So kick up your feet Enjoy Christmas in Australia Cause it is hot But remember there is a special meaning It is the birth of Jesus © 2014 B.JReviews
