A river for allA Poem by B.JThe Mighty River Murray
Might River Murray, winds through this land
Back beyond the millennium, flowing endlessly Bones of river boats, now lie beneath the river On a muddy river bank, abandoned The Mighty River Murray, searches endlessly Manifesting a landscape, created by a mighty force Cliffs reflecting a timeless landscape, the beauty and splendour There was a time when the River Boats Ruled the river In the beginning before roads and railways, River Boats ruled A mighty inland highway, from Barmah to the sea Following the nights, by moonlight and stars, the magic of the river A sky scape, reflecting across a mirage of water, stars so bright To light up a sky, and light the way for many who come, across your magic The mighty river, has survived drought, floods, fed each and every life form Glory days, saw towns bustling, now abandoned towns River boat towns, shipping goods, along the inland highway Some survived, now highway towns, bustling through Today river boats lie abandoned, decaying along the river Some now renovated, to their past glory How they will tell a story of the River Murray, and all it's people This was but a story of a Mighty River that belongs to us all. © 2014 B.JAuthor's Note
