Before Dream timeA Poem by B.JSomething we were taught in school about the spirits of Dream time and our Aboriginal spirits and beliefs.
In a time before dreaming
Outside the expanse of where the world began Before Dream time, we called it To a time when spirits, had a living plan There lived a million living souls A seemingly endless time waiting There was a happening before them Thoughts that were old, for they knew the paths of time Through a whirlwind of time, the expanse of the earth They would need to travel, a gleaming star forming Bright and new, reaching out, touching them They twisted and squirmed, in pain, with a desire to flee The spirits knew what to expect Engulfed in a hazy whirlwind their screams, could be heard Knowing the horror before them Twisting and squirming, the spirits did A star exploded with rapture of fire The spirits were pulled with an almighty force Crying, as this new land unfolded Knowing their souls were crying They knew the time yet to come Terror in the moment before them The day of reckoning would come before them On this world, the spirits hearts weighed heavy, and cold Knowing they would need to forthright The spirits thoughts damaged As the spun edge of unknowingness, in the clouds of birth The spirits hid in the shadows of their knowledge, as they arrive on earth As they surveyed this land, shaping it, left alone in their hands Now forgotten and buried in time, the memory of the spirits All they knew was to move on, and build for themselves Build for their children, a place to give shelter To the spirits that had come and gone before them On a land which we all could live in peace. © 2014 B.JAuthor's Note
