A rainbow in the desert sky

Magical rainbows

To see a rainbow
In the fresh morning sky
A gleaming shape
I stand still and stare

To watch a rainbow
Over the morning desert
And wonder about the pot of gold
We heard about in fairy tales
Opening a book of tales
Explains the details


Dreams of a pot of gold
You plan what to do with
But you know it is not true
You know fairy tales don't exist
They are mythical legends

But stop and watch amongst the mist
Look at the colours, listen to the sky.
Brightly coloured rainbow, beginning and ending
Somewhere is the desert sky
The magic of a rainbow
A bridge to no-where
A magical land you long to know


Follow the rainbow pathway
To a land where you do not know
A rainbow land full of magic
Somewhere in the desert morning sky
There maybe a pot of gold waiting for you

Sometimes the illusion is better than the reality. Rainbows are marvelous and full of wonder much like this poem.

I agree the stories we were told as kids about leprechauns and the pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. Sometimes I still wonder. Thank you so much for your comment.
