A timeless ancient countryA Poem by B.JDescribing Australia
A timeless, ancient country
The land out beyond, of river or ridge Somewhere the outback starts From beyond the black stump to the back o'Bourke That's what I was taught, just a little bit out of reach A land real and legendary Yet the sights, the sounds, the history and the myths Are deeply embedded in the Nations heart We may cling to the coast, we maybe An essentially urban, beach going culture But somewhere in our hearts, there is a special place this country The landscape that stretches endlessly Beyond the reach of cities, the outback is big Larger than life, and so is everything out there Our big skies are renowned all over the world And the reason is our land is the lowest Flattest and driest continent in the world © 2014 B.JAuthor's Note
