Scene 1

[Setting: Gus sitting down in room, Gus is waiting for Jimmy browsing looking at Elle’s profile]

[Fade in song: I will possess your heart]

[Jimmy enters room smiling]

Gus: Bro, where were you? People have been walking by giving me the pity look. I was going to make a sign that says “I am not alone”, but I didn’t want to lie to myself.

Jimmy: Oh, my bad, I was on my way and the funniest thing happened (starts smiling)

[Awkward pause]

Gus: Do you, do you wanna tell me what happened?

Jimmy: Haha, nah I’m good. Let’s get cracking

End scene

Scene 2

[Setting: Outside library] Gus and Jimmy leaving the library

Gus: Pretty good study sesh?

Jimmy: You studied; I watched Paula Deen cooking video. Hashtag heartdisease

[Elle walks by them]

Jimmy: Hey, how’s it going, you look excited? (Sarcastic)

Elle: Hey Jimmy hey…Gus? Yeah so excited to study. How are you guys?

Gus: Hey, Elle right? [looking nervous] not bad, we’re just about to go get some bubble tea...[awkward pause]…want to come along?

Jimmy: Yeah, [takes a glance at Gus for being awkward]

Elle: Oh no, I’m good guys I have a midterm need to get studying

Jimmy: Oh yeah? For what?

[Focus on Gus with voiceover, while Jimmy and Elle talk]

Gus: [voice over] nice, she knew my name. Just play it cool (leans awkwardy), not that cool. Flex, nevermind note to self, hit the gym

Everyone laughs, Gus laughs awkwardly

Elle: Anyway, thanks, I’ll catch you guys later.

[Exit Elle, Gus and Jimmy take a bit of a side and Gus stares as she walks away]

[Cue song: I will possess your hear]

Jimmy: I saw you checking her out, you should talk to her. Ask her out instead of looking constipated when you run into her.

Gus: Constipated? That’s my seductive face

Jimmy: Then how the hell do you look when you’re constipated

Gus: I don’t, it’s called fiber.

Jimmy:  Right, let's get some food

End scene

Scene 3

Gus sitting alone in silent study, is looking at a problem, pokes his head out of the cubicle and checks left and right; opens Facebook to Elle’s profile and starts scrolling through it.

Scene 4

[Setting: Jimmy and Gus at a coffee shop, sitting down]

Gus: So how'd you find that assignment?

Jimmy: [Looks at Gus with stone cold face],  I didn't find it.

Gus: What, you wha- what do you mean?

Jimmy: I just have a lot going on in life right now

[Gus notices Elle walk in]

Gus: Hey, thats Elle right?

Jimmy: [Looking sly], yeah it is. Want me to call her over?...I'm calling her over.

[Calls Elle]

Elle: Hey guys, I'm just waiting for someone. What are you upto?

Jimmy: (With a very sly smile) Why don't you grab a seat Elle while you wait, I just remembered I need to get something

Elle: Oh yeah…sure.

Jimmy leaves signaling to Gus to talk to her, he is behind Elle making motions before leaving

Elle: So, how’s it going Gus?

Gus: It’s going fine. How about...you? How was the midterm?

Elle: Not bad, I mean it was kind of hard but I think I did alright.

Gus: Yeah, Wrigley can have some confusing questions

Elle: How’d you know who the prof was?

Gus: Oh, you told us when we met outside the library, when you remembered my name...

Elle: Makes sense. Yeah he’s weir-

Gus: How was the weekend?

Elle: Not bad, you know low key. I like that sometimes though. I was home most of the time did some work around the house and groceries…

[Elle’s voice drifts off and camera pans to Gus’s face and he looks nervous]

Gus: You can’t mess this up

Elle: I went for a run and it wa-

Gus zones back in on the conversation

Gus: It must have been hard with the rain, you can't really run in the rain [awkward chuckle]

Elle: How’d you know it was raining when I went?

Gus: Oh no, I mean it rained over the weekend so like you kn... I’m just psychic.

Elle: (Looks a little creeped) Oh ok. Well that’s cool

Gus:  Yeah, you know how kids say I want to grow up and be a psychic? Yeah well I never could say that because I was born one.

Elle: Hah. That’s actually pretty funny. Anyway then I just watched a game it was goo..

Gus: Yeah I was pretty pissed too when they lost.

Elle: What do you mean too? I never told you who I was cheering for, or which sport I watched.

Gus: I mean (looking sarcastically) everyone watched that game. And if you weren’t supporting em then you’d be lame…and you don’t look lame

Elle: [Smiles] you’re right, it’s funny that you’re good at this

Gus: Yeah, that or I spend my days stalking you

Elle: What? (Elle looks curious) Anyway, then I took my pet to the vet on Sunday

Gus: Oh yeah how is Oreo doing?

Elle: That’s it. How’d you know my cat’s name?

Gus: Uhhh, you like Oreos and people name animals after things they like sometimes so I took a gue-

Elle: How’d you know I like Oreos?!

Gus: (Looking apologetically) everyone likes Oreos?

Elle: I think I’m going to go

Elle gets up and leaves, making no eye contact. Gus looks around, tries to play it off and smiles awkwardly and then puts head down and starts looking at phone.

End scene

Scene 4

Setting: Back in coffee shop, Jimmy walks to where Gus is sitting

Jimmy: So? Eh eh eh. How did the meeting go?

Gus: Uh, it happened again.

Jimmy: Again!? What? How? (Looks frustrated) I told you to deactivate that thing man. You can’t handle that kind of power. Look, we'll get you help

Gus looks at phone, he searches up Lana and likes her picture.

[Cue song: One is the loneliest number]

End scene

I am liking the dialogue ...not bad for a short ...kinda leaves u wanting more even if it is complete

I like it... very relatable ... easy to follow and held my attention. mostly because Gus is such a nerdy, awkward guy ...(like i said...easy for me to relate to) i'm left with the question of him really being psychic or just too much time memorizing her FB page ... i am inspired to want more.

I enjoyed this play ...
If i'd to say something as a criticism to improve your skills more ... then i'd say, there's some grammatical errors ..only a bit not major ... i know you'll improve that all with the time :) and in the scene 3 i think you should have to write something more about him like what he was doing when he was alone at home and does he think about "Elle" or something like that !! you know ... Overall piece's great, theme's nice and it's suited on day to day life. Your cool at plays buddy... i loved it. Am gonna save this play ;) Good job, buddy!

I'm intrigued...I wonder if his knowledge is from her profile he was looking at or he really does have some special powers. I'd love to see how this transfers to film. Great job.
