Wanton Heart (1985)

Wanton Heart (1985)

A Poem by PoetryofProvidence

If you cast a wanton net
disgrace dishonor you will get
Justice is never moved by love
but by Law that sets above
Dare not to feign your ignorance
or blame it on your sentience
You eat the shame of foolishness
and off the path you followed hence
Swear not to God you did not know
where your shame and honor go
For the knowledge at the cost of pain
can be considered heavy gain
And should you feel that pressing weight
do not dare charge it to fate
A choice was made, decision spent
despite not knowing where it went
To count the cost of all plans laid
for all the hope that you have made
Ill gotten gain not happy treasure
for it you'll pay in full measure
For if you cast a wanton net
disgrace , dishonor you will get
