The Chronokepper
A Story by Brian Steven Erb Jr.
Another short story. Enjoy.
A young man not too old, not too little. A sixteen year old trying
to find himself, or her. He left his life, his world. Did he not see it
coming? Stricken, smitin, by this love, this butterfly. It started
early, this young man, found her. Young Man knew what she was, he didn't
care. His lust and passion drew him closer. The part of biting the
forbidden fruit, he couldn't contain. He didn't realize who his enemy
was, who his destroyer happened to be.Two was just a number to Young
Man. Not much to worry about. As young man went on with this aspect of a
taken product, he didn't explore into his enemy, Time. Young Man
started to realize, Time was present. Time showed Young Man what the
number Two really meant. Time opened up Young Man's eyes, let him see
that Two would drop him into a place so deep. Young Man, being naïve,
tapped into his anger. Young Man charged Time, such fury and hate. He
told Time that Fate was stronger, he would succeed. Only if Young Man
would of listened. As the days and months flew by, Young Man sunk deeper
and deeper. The number Two made itself clear, he fed young man his
drugs and sickness. Two gave Young Man his tears and scars. Two let
Young Man bleed and bleed, hurt his pure entity. Young Man was strung
out, not anything left. He called on Fate to prove Time wrong. Fate
never answered. Fate turned it's back. Little strength left, after the
Butterfly was no longer forever. Young Man couldn't take anymore. The
Erro was cutting too deep into his skin. There was no blood left, just
marks and regret. Young Man remembered his passion and lust. His life
which made too much sense. Which was too happy. Time just stood and
looked. He blew a kiss to Young Man. Time let Young Man know, failure
was destined. Time laughed and told Young Man to flee. Young Man
couldn't live the life of a happy. Young Man broke, his eyes went white.
He slaughtered Time where it stood. Time now faded and the world stood
still and just stared at Young Man. Young Man picked up Time's mask and
took the role. Yet, he didn't want to be known as Time.Young Man was now
the Chronokeeper. As the Chronokeeper went on, he started to realize,
he didn't kill Time, for he was Time all along. He ended and killed the
Butterfly. It was his fault Fate turned it's back. The Chronokeeper was
Time, and Time was the Young Man. Upon this realization the Chronokeeper
split from the Young Man. They became two seperate beings. Young Man
was left fragile, addicted, and no drive for life. The Chronokeeper was
left full of hate and a psychosis to kill. Then there was Two, who ended
up killing Fate many ago. Two sat up high, with it's captured
Butterfly, and stared at the Chronokeeper trying to kill himself, the
Young Man. Now there is a battle between the same figure, and Two fuels
the fire for his sick game. His game for two.
