heart's song

heart's song

A Poem by barf
"

...

"
the barren earth,
will bear witness,
to my despair.

devoid of color,
the flowers will beg,
to sing of solace,
in paths my grief,
have laid waste.

i will plead,
in the hands of fate,
to soften your soul,
at the expense of mine.

bound to your heart,
the hymn of my life,
will be hummed by the trees,

but oh,
how cruel it is,
that no song of grief,
will harmonize with mine.

Your poem is full of the intensity experience. Some things can be dulled by time but others feel endless in their power to wound and remain. To love is to accept an inevitability. We will likely feel more pain than joy but it never stops us. The heights of love draw us in, and the beauty of those we love. They are worth it.

The reality that we will always be ourselves alone even embracing the fullness of love can be crushing. The sense of loss here is deeply felt. I particularly connected to the hymn of life being sung by the trees. Welcome to the site. Glad to read your poetry.
