Ballad on a Blue LagoonA Poem by Barefoot McCoyBallad on a Blue Lagoon by Barefoot McCoy ©2015. www.barefootmccoy.comThe moon’s out on the run tonight, Behind the silver spoon. He’s casting out his little light Across the blue lagoon. The stars are in the water Painting seashells green and blue. Oh babe, where are you? Someone’s sailing home tonight, And everybody knows. The torches on the shore burn bright, And everyone’s so close. Waiting for their long lost friend To come into their view. Oh babe, where are you? The hopes are running high tonight, And everyone is here. The Cheshire Cat has brought his friends" The Mice and Musketeers. The party’s full of faces" Every face I ever knew. Oh babe, where are you? The old man in the sea is out" He’s given me his catch. The artist in the sand is here, Working on a sketch. He says it’s me he's drawing now, Beside the sacred moon. Oh babe, where are you? It’s me the friends were waiting for, And what a nice surprise" To feel the love I used to know, To see it in their eyes. Life is just a game to some, To others, something true. Oh babe, where are you? I’m lying on the shore tonight, Pleading with the moon. “But what more could you ask for, sir, before the night is through?” All my prayers were answered, And all my dreams came true, But babe, where were you? Oh babe, where are you? © 2015 Barefoot McCoy |
