Giving birth to legion of furies

Giving birth to legion of furies

A Poem by BareFeet Queen

Aphrodite, they’re screaming
your name from the
swamplands.

they are a ravaged race,
bled dry of beauty.

Aphrodite, their children
are each born harder

than their diamond mothers.
humidity runs sweat down their
  Pearlescent skin, their armored flesh.
they are starved of love,
and hungry for blood.

Aphrodite, their fathers are bone,
eroding away to dust.
they hunted all the game dead,
and sit like stone with
cracked guns over
their cobwebbed knees.

Aphrodite, death calls them from
the muddy green waters,
from the mouths of alligators
and more sinister things.

Aphrodite, bless these
wretched creatures,
nephilim who’ve torn off
their wing
