The Ring of Fire

The Ring of Fire

A Poem by The_Breakdown

As day turns into night
Around the lake
Boats are brought in for the time being
Tubes are tied to docks
Late swimmers sit on the tubes
And continue to relax in the lake water
As the night gets darker
Flares are placed and lit
Like red fireflies, brought to unite
Look across to the other side
You will see it covered in flares, just like yours
Beautiful, somehow
Soon fireworks begin to pop and crackle in the sky
You can hear them all around
The dog is frightened, though and hides
But you stay out with everyone to watch
To watch these wonderful explosions of color and wonder
As night goes on
Around the lake
You get a feeling you can't explain
A feeling of pure joy, happiness, belonging
With the other people around you
And you wish it would go on forever
