A Better Place

A Better Place

A Poem by Z bangbangmaxwell
"

a poem about passing...

"
I dreamed that i was standing
just outside heaven's door
I had no idea how i got there
or what i was there there for
Then I looked around and saw
its just as I was told
there were angels everywhere
the streets were lined with gold
Everyone was smiling
no one had a care
people looked so happy
and all the Saints were there
Over in the corner
I saw my mom and dad
sitting on the front porch swing
just like they always had
Then I couldn't help it
I just began to cry
an angel walked right up to me
and softly asked me why
I said i missed my parents
and some of my best friends
and could I come inside awhile
and talk to them again
The angel whispered in my ear
as tears ran down my face:
'It's time for you to wake up now,
you've seen a better place'

this is beautiful. you can tell by my work that I love rhyme - it can be difficult to use it while remaining dramatic and meaningful. Here, you did both. :)
