The Cuyahoga RiverA Poem by PiperBeing back home; it's been a while WritersCafe. This is the sister poem to The Donau River.
Sitting along the rocky bank
Collecting my thoughts How many people should I thank? For in my life helping me connect the dots A breath of steam escapes my lips As I hug my knees to keep warm The cold rock freezes my hips Letting my emotions swarm So many people across the pond Adding an individual ornament to the new me Of people I grew fond For maybe in a few years I won't see I left a piece of me by the Donau river The place that had given me a shiver My feelings forever drowned in the Black Sea Only for new ones to be replaced by opportunity As the raging Cuyahoga river passes by me With this chaos I feel serenity It gives me the energy to charge Into the black void I feel like a criminal at large Ripping the shackles of a controller I feel overjoyed Freedom is all that I sing Opportunity is all I want to gain Like the river I shall run raging No longer in pain The Donau is a healer The Cuyahoga is my rebirth
