The New Me

The New Me

A Poem by Piper
"

A poem I wrote a few years ago. I went through many personal struggles and to see this poem again so many years, those struggles were definitely worth it.

"
The old me is dead
She lays limp on the floor
My shoes no longer feel like lead
As I get to see the world all the more

She held me back
And kept me from living my life
She made the loneliness my friend
That is the fact
So I pierced her broken heart with a knife
And with that I saw my pain end

My past lover will no longer recognize me
For what I have done to me

I cut my hair to never forget
To tell myself I will never regret
To make sure that I am stronger
So I can feel the happiness of life all the longer

I opened myself up
To let others in
To build my new life up
And to throw my old memories in a bin

Now do you see the real me?
Now that I do the things that I do
The feelings that I now can feel
To make my life all the new
I experience life
To no longer hold back
And I will fight
Before anyone puts my new life on a wrack

I thank God everyday
For his bless
And erasing my old mess
My life now shows the way
Beyond the light of what I can see
Is now the new me
