eco friendly planet. every morning, light from the rising sun renews everything it touches. Holes in the ground are covered by grass. Trees cut down and/or burned are regrown in a minute. Everything natural the light touches is rejuvenated. Everything unnatural (in this case, after-effects of war and things.) it attempts to destroy. Aliens seek refuge from the sun's rays underneath great mats of algae in the water or  deep underground. Even the moon is not completely harmless for these beings. Sun flies are pseudo insects that fly in the day time but at night retreat to the tunnels the aliens have built. Ground Wasps and Fireflies rolled into one. Nothing grows below ground or anywhere else the sun cannot reach. (They find what they assume to be a good place only for someone to find… moss.) Hero of the story is someone they find kept alive underground. An original intelligent habitant of the planet who is able to use the planet's resources without being burned or having his efforts undone.
