The Storm

The Storm

A Poem by Bambi

The Lightning

I didnt see it coming that day

The lightning seemed so small

But god didnt see it that way

As the tree stood so tall

The lightning was coming no one could run

The clouds started to rumble

In spite of the lightning I stayed under the tree

The trees leaves started to grumble

As the wind whistled a song to me

The lightning was coming no one could run

Lightning was falling from the sky

I felt fear rise inside me

As the lightning came close by

I wondered what could happen to me

The lightning was coming no one could run

As the lightning hit the tree

I felt my body go all numb

I felt my heart fill with glee

And I died under that tree

The lightning did come i couldnt run

Hi Bambi. Love that name. Hey....like the poem. Might I make a suggestion? Since you like the repeated line
"The lightning was coming no one could run" have you thought of making this poem (or another one, since you have talent) a villanelle? You may know this already.....so I apologize if I'm telling you something you already know, but a villanelle is a poetry form that lends itself well to repeated lines. You can google poetry forms and figure out the pattern AND THE METER. You'd be good at creating one. If you get the chance, check out some of my stuff too....I might have a villanelle posted on this site. Thanks.....sorry so long.
