Of Hand Written Letters

Thin sheets of parchment lay
beneath dancing pen tips
leaving swirls and curls
upon its porcelain  surface.

An anxious hand deliberately scrawls
important news, lines of longing,
or an RSVP to a friend's party.

Sometimes more mundane tasks
require the use of ink and tablet,
a grocery list or a note
to the landlord about late rent.

Yesterday the mailbox was
overflowing with messages,
all written by human hands.
The crisp papers were folded
twice, tucked into ivory
envelopes marked by moistened
tiles fastened onto corners.

What engaging salutations
awaited us -- once,
eagerly slit open
revealing bits of shiny
pebbles from the near and far.

Write on! quiet litterally! This was wonderful. Sometimes there is nothing better then feeling a pen in the hand and caressing it to a page of real paper. The age of computers has taken away so much from that. Even i don't pick up an actual pen as much as i used to. But sometimes it's the only thing that inspires us!
Great Write!
