The Reflection
As the face in the mirror looks back at me
I wonder who is this old man?
It cant be me,I was 16 only yesterday
Am I dreaming or has the time really past?
In my mind I still am only the teen
Whose only worries are homework and girls
I spend Saturday Mornings washing my 57 Chevy
Getting ready for my date tonight.
I pick up my girl and we spend the night Cruzin'
Hitting the burger joints and hot spots meeting friends
Just enjoying life,no cares,no worries
Anyone over 35 is ancient when you are 16
We loved our parents, even though from time to time a butt spanking was necessary
We knew it was because they loved us and only wanted us to be good kids.
We played by the rules,we respected others cause we were raised like that.
We loved God and Country without question.
About the worse trouble we got into was getting home late.
We didn't spend time thinking about being rich or poor or in between
We just loved life and enjoyed every day.
We were just carefree teens living in a time
In a world where bad things were not a worry.
I just smile at the old man and tell him
I know time has taken my youth
But time will never take away memories
On the inside,I am an eternal teen.
