An Unfelt Grasp

An Unfelt Grasp

A Poem by Jane Bryan

Two contrasted hands entertwined

A loving grasp one must search to find

One can search and keep their thoughts tied

Yet you still have no luck, and you have cried

You cried every night for a lonely year

Though you find nothing to stop the tear

Your worst thought come out, the lonely fear

That you can't find the voice that you want to hear

The voice of pure happiness puts away the fright

Though you can't find the happiness this solitary night

People look at you because you look very uptight

From all the watching and wandering, your time to fight

You have old memories of a grasp around your finger

That, to release, the grasp would always linger

The grasp that was released made you become a singer

Because you were screaming the pain, it was a sudden stinger

Now you must search for the grasp once more

The person who left became a sudden sore

They ment so much that they have you torn

Between walking away or waiting for the horn

The horn is a beep to keep you awake

So that if they come back you can take

Take the grasp that only they can make

Nothing else will suffice, not even a fake

The grasp will be there, always with you

Of your dad and mom and the memory of those two

They come back even when you are not around

And then they cannot hear the gasping sound
