The World Today

The World Today

A Poem by Jane Bryan
"

How I feel versus the world today

"

Sailing around the world makes a record

Jumping the longest length sets a standard

Every time you wake up you have a routine

In the play there is always the best scene

Why is there always a standard to be set?

It is like the world sets up a net

The net to fall on when people fail

Yet the net can mean a bitter betrayal

The world around you falls apart

When everyone takes only one part

They take your soul away

The world turns your soul a shade of gray

No one needs to have a label

We all need to be enabled

To have a life that we have picked

Yet everyone wants to make us nicked

Can anyone escape the world of fakes

The world is of all Christians to all flakes

Some are sorry for the deeds done

The flakes havent seen a single one

Apologize, democracy for the standards at hand

Adults must promise with a single band

Bands of amazing standards and no lies

Of apologies that I cannot put aside

Love the world for who it is

Love the sinner for he has sinned

I love the ones that matter to me

They encourage me to always want to be
