Letting Go

Letting Go

A Poem by Bailey Bradish

They fight like they've never loved
His harsh words sliced through her tender heart
With each word that rolled off his tongue, she sunk deeper and deeper
until she reached the bottom
As she struggled for air to tell him she loves him one last time
His words beat down on her
Down, down
and she finally let go

Verbal abuse sucks. I like your opening line. I think your structure could benefit from a bit more line control. Lines 3 and 5 in particular could benefit from some additional line breaks. A tragic subject well handled.

I really liked this Bailey. An all to familiar tale in relationships gone wrong, where the one partner or both still love each other but for their own sanity have to let go.
