She Eats the Stars

She Eats the Stars

A Poem by Jordan Madrid

She grabs the stars
With small gentle feminine hands
Grasping, holding back tears of pain
She stuffs them in her mouth
With lovely pulsating bursts
They course down her throat
Too much to touch them, to feel them
She gobbles them down
She is a universe of half truths
Lies of peace and happiness
Burning through her waking life
She swallows and consumes these stars
Her weakness is in her love
And death plays along her smile
She has a sickness born within
This is how she killed the stars
Standing on backs of broken men
She reaches to the heavens
Still feminine, still gentle
She eats the stars

Amazing imagery.
As I read I felt as if I was watching it unfold before my eyes...witness to the scared.
And although it probably -isn't- a part of your original vision, I hear tiny echos of mythology.
A goddess broken, her sorrow expressed.
Wonderfully done.
