The thousand days

The thousand days

A Poem by Father Mojo
"

here's one i wrote in college twenty years ago

"

I am born:
soft pink and new
a thousand day ahead to view
a thousand heartbeats with no flaw
a thousand breaths for me to draw

I have aged:
still much to see
so much of life a memory
countless heartbeats have come and gone
countless breaths are already drawn

I am old:
life still my friend
not many days until the end
a dozen heartbeats left to last
a couple breaths for me to grasp

I now die:
hard gray and old
there’s no more days left to unfold
my heart silent, my body tired
my breath is still, my life expired

The life cycle... reminds me of one of my own poems... an interesting topic and well written poem... flows well for the most part... nice

What I enjoyed about this poem is the way it goes through life and its simplicity. We are born, go through stages in life and then die...we are the ones that make drama of it. Great poem!
