HATE CRIME

HATE CRIME

A Poem by Father Mojo

He was found in a parking lot
Unconscious, twitching in the spot
Where he died, bleeding from the head --
"He was different," they just said.

"It was just a matter of time
Till he was victim to a crime."
Because it was condoned, he bled --
"He was different," they just said.

So the police made no arrests.
There were no serious inquests.
When cops were asked why he was dead,
"He was different," they just said

Some day we will accept the blame,
Calling the demon by its name;
"Fear’’s the culprit!" we’ll voice instead,
"We were afraid, that’s why he’s dead!"
