Stage Lights

walk the stage

take a bow
yes -
they heard you so
now take a bow and
reach for the next piece, player
hand
smile and pretend it was for them
not to hold together
yourself
under a mask
to entertain delusions of course
to bring forth tears
to move worlds in a pin drop
cinderella stories and broken hearts
broken English of long ago
smile
bow
and walk back to the normal night-lights
that seem so much dimmer
after
