The Death of Art

The Death of Art

A Poem by Kitten
"

How does the digital revolution effect traditional art?

"

My muse where art thou?
My fingers stray idly across this blank space,
     longing for a pencil,
          reminiscing about texture
Pressing each black square as if the clicks were music,
Pretending that repeated motion could create a canvas
How am I to know if I am to succeed,
when the glow of masterpiece is covered by this luminescence?

I stare, my eyes captured
My thoughts raptured as my brain ebbs away
Will thou not give me the strength to pull back my hands?

Dionysos, draw me back to my stage;
remember unto me my muse
So that I may once again create.

I still write a lot of my work by pen(cil) then transfer it to the digital medium.
Well worded verses in this piece. It's excellant and thought provoking...has the digital revolution hindered or hastened the progression of Art?

This poem really resonated with me. As a teenager I can't help but be part of the technological generation that couldn't imagine life with out cell phones or computers. But some times I need to step back and just sit down with paper and a pen and scribble things out.

I especially liked the line "My thoughts raptured as my brain ebbs away". I often find that when writing at the computer I can write for hours, and my thoughts flow unchecked, but they're not very well developed thoughts, or very worth while.

This poem really made my think about how I go about writing, and I thank you for that.
