Renewed wounds

Renewed wounds

A Poem by Rida Sarwar

The wounds heal yet they are scratched again Blood falls yet its like ink on a paper The more it drops the more satisfying it gets Tears of agony wet my cheeks Those muffled cries of surrender Those slow drugs, damn they just won't work the pain won't subside The winter is harsh on me this time More than before, more cruel than it was ever before Misery demands company Pain demands to be felt But this life! It demands to be lived It demands struggle! it demands to be fought for Yet the last ounce of desire to live it has drained out of me Just like the rainbow that has lost its colours Just like a bird that lost its wings More like a demon damned to live.
